Bursars
This programme is becoming the victim of its own success.
Just keeping up with school fees is challenge enough: we were delighted that the community meal we enjoyed with people at the Flying Duck in Ilkley raised £250 which means we can continue paying school fees for the coming year. But then we have the stars, like Ken Silungwe, who has just been offered a degree place for animal sciences at Lilongwe University of Agriculture.
We need to find £1500 a year for this. It’s a lot but if he can do it, it will be such an inspiration to others, showing what can be achieved by children from poor backgrounds with ability and determination and hard work. And it will help to raise the levels of agricultural skills in Karonga.
