Official recognition for our great tasting fair & fine food products

We are delighted to share that six more of our great tasting, fair & fine food products have been officially recognised with prestigious Great Taste Awards. This is such good news for us and more specifically for the producers in Africa who make these products. The latest to receive the accolade are; Plain Cashew Nuts, Sweetly Spiced Cashews and Sweetly Spiced Cashew Nut Butter from Sunshine Nut Co. in Mozambique, Sliced Jalapenos and Peach & Ginger Jam from Black Mamba in Eswaini as well as Grape & Pear Balsamic Reduction from Turqle in South Africa. You can read about what the judges had to say in our short blog. To celebrate we are offering a tasty 20% off all winning products on our online shop.

Plain Cashew Nuts

These cashews smell amazing and are a light sweet roast. The crunch is fresh and satisfying, and they are very creamy, yet still yielding on the palate. Appealing and natural, we loved the look of them and appreciated the range of size - big juicy ones and tiddlers too. They are full of flavour, proving you don't need salt to enjoy them. When you do get a bit of skin, it gives a different dimension to the crunch and an intensity to the flavour. A little pop on the palate - well produced, fresh and delicious.

Fairly even, good-sized cashews with a delicately nutty aroma. The flavour of the cashews is natural and clean displaying that characteristic sweetness. With a fresh-tasting, unadulterated flavour, these are straightforward and enjoyable cashews.

Large cashews that have a good, even brown colour from roasting. The aroma is invitingly toasty, nutty and sweet. These nuts have a great crunch and a sweet creamy intensity. They do not need to be salted as they are delicious just the way they are.

Sweetly Spiced Cashew Nuts

Nice big cashews, with a visible powder of flavouring in them. Sweet initially with the cinnamon coming through, then you bite into the buttery more savoury nut, and get the flavour from that. We kept dipping in, and revelled in the salty / sweet juxtaposition which played on the palate and the variation between the nuts. A well-crafted mix that is quite delicious.

Whole cashews, with a generous coating of spices and an aroma of cinnamon. The nuts are pleasingly crunchy with a cinnamon flavour, however, no other spice comes through. One judge finds the blend too sweet, another doesn't and likes the balance. They are enjoyable to eat, however we find the cinnamon to be the dominant flavour.

These nuts are of varying sizes and look well-coated with the seasoning, having shed a little in transit. The aromas are of cinnamon, nutmeg and caramelisation. Crisp and fresh, these nuts are a revelation to those who are used to salt and little else. Beautifully executed.

Sweetly Spiced Cashew Nut Butter

A glossy nut butter with a pleasing aroma of roasted nuts. Slightly oily, the texture is beautiful, with a medium viscosity that doesn't coat the tongue. The flavour of nuts is well balanced with the sugar, spices and salt to give us a delightful overall flavour. The nut comes through, the spices wrap around the creamy nut flavour and the sugar and salt levels are perfect. We would buy this and enjoy it, a lovely product.

This product offers a pleasing grittiness, colour and texture. The spice content dominates the lightly roasted flavours of the cashews. There is a pleasing mouthfeel.

A thick paste that delivers an attractive nutty aroma with a hint of spice. The paste has a lovely sheen and welcome chopped nut texture. It spreads well.

Peach & Ginger Jam

A beautifully made jam with a true peach taste. The texture of the jam is soft. The ginger is well judged and balanced. It has a pleasant acidity on the palate at the finish. A very moreish jam.

Sliced Jalapenos

A generous sliced jalapeno, this is a deeper vibrant green than usual. The brine with vinegar is sweet and the acetic vinegar level, thankfully low, and then you get the punch from the chillies – fresh, fruity, altogether pleasing and obviously versatile in its uses.

The generous, fat slices of jalapeno, in a clear pickle juice, have retained their structure and aren't at all mushy. One judge raved about the pickle juice and wanted to make Picklebacks with bourbon! These would be great in a burger, using the pickle juice to make a delicious burger sauce.

A well presented sliced pepper with a warming intense flavour, the judges thought the pickle was well-judged with a rounded flavour. The pepper retains its texture and bite.

Sliced evenly, these lovely jalapenos have retained a great crunch. The vinegar isn't overwhelming and is in balance. There is a pleasant warmth on the palate from these fruit chillies – a lovely and well produced product.

Pear & Grape Balsamic Reduction

This reduction has a dark shiny appearance. A full flavoured, well rounded vinegar with a distinct fruity finish. There are distinct depths to the flavour.

An opaque mahogany coloured vinegar with a fruity aroma. Judges like the well balanced acidity, it's fruity, visually very clean, and moreish; we think that this would be delicious on a salad. This is a smooth, pleasant balsamic.

Again, to celebrate we have 20% off these six products.

A woman standing at church fair trade stall with lots of delicious fair trade products available
By Nicola Taylor July 3, 2026
A Fair Trade stall is about so much more than selling tea, coffee and chocolate. Every purchase supports smallholder farmers and producers who are working incredibly hard to build sustainable livelihoods in the face of climate change, rising fuel costs and an unpredictable global market. For many of the communities we work with, having reliable customers is essential. By running a True Origin stall at your church, you become part of that support network, helping to create regular demand for products that often aren't available in supermarkets or high street shops. Whether your church is passionate about global justice, caring for creation or simply making a practical difference, a Fair Trade stall is a simple but powerful way to turn those values into action. Start Small You don't need a huge team or a large budget to get started. Begin by talking with your church leaders about the idea. Many churches are happy to provide a small loan or donation to purchase initial stock, particularly if it can be repaid gradually as sales grow. Remember that most of the income from a stall is best reinvested into buying more stock rather than raising money for church funds. This helps keep the stall sustainable and ensures producers continue to receive orders. If you're new to running a stall, don't worry, you won't be on your own. The True Origin team and experienced Fair Traders are always happy to share advice and practical tips.
